History

The Brandon Wheat Kings were a Canadian Junior A hockey team based in Brandon, Manitoba playing in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League from 1937 to 1938. The hockey team was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Brandon The Kiwanis Club of Brandon began raising funds in 1936 to re-establish a junior hockey team in the City of Brandon in order to restore the City's reputation as the home of first class hockey players and to bring in revenue to the City. The Brandon Wheat Kings 1937-1938 hockey team consisted of future professional hockey players Lude Check (1918-2009), Terry Reardon (1919-1993), Peter Slobodian (1918-1986) and Frank "Butch" Stahan (1920-1995). Other team members included Fred Prokaska, ALex McFadzen, Dennis McNeill, Mitch Pechet, Hud Sneider, Andy Bruce, Pop Summers (Trainer) and Bob Chevings (Coach).
