History

Victoria Avenue Methodist Church existed in the Manitoba community of Brandon from 1909 to 1925. On April 8, 1909, a committee formed by The Rev. J.C. Switzer and C.R. Sing met to discuss the possibility of building a Methodist church in the west end of the city. The first service was first held at Park School on August 8, 1909. A church was built on the corner of 15th Street and Victoria Avenue in 1910 and dedicated on March 13, 1910 by Rev. Switzer. The Rev. H.A. Ireland served as Victoria Avenue's first minister. In 1925, Victoria Avenue Methodist Church officially joined the United Church of Canada to become Victoria United Church.
