After earning his B.A., J.R.C. Evans taught at the college and later earned a PhD in geology from the University of Chicago. Returning to Brandon as a lecturer, he became president of the renamed Brandon College in 1928, serving until his death in 1959.
General note
In its early days, this post-secondary institution was known as both Brandon College and Brandon Baptist College, since it was established by the Baptist Union of Western Canada in 1899, merging with the privately run Brandon Academy.
