Biographical history

For years, the congregation of Birtle functioned as its own charge. It incorporated points at Birtle, Solsgirth and Wattsview in 1954. Miniota and Isabella also shared in a charge for several years. Eventually Birtle, Miniota and Isabella created a three-point charge, appropriately titled the Birtle-Isabella-Miniota Wider Parish. In 1969 a four-point charge known as the Birtle-Miniota Wider Parish was created, consisting of Birtle, Miniota, Beulah and Isabella. When Beulah closed only three years later, the charge remained as a three-point charge. As of 2009, the Birtle-Miniota Wider Parish is part of the Assinaboine Presbytery, and is a two-point charge, consisting of Birtle and Miniota.

Custodial history

The records of the Birtle-Miniota Wider Parish came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of six transfers of records between 1979-1991.
