Name of creator
Beresford Methodist Church existed in the Manitoba community of Beresford, located southwest of Brandon in the Rural Municipality of Whitehead, from 1891 to 1925. The first church, built in 1891, was destroyed by fire in 1902. The second church, brick on stone, was erected between 1903 and 1904. A Local Union was formed in June of 1913 between the Beresford Methodist and Presbyterian congregations. The Methodist church continued to be used as the Union Church, and in 1925, it officially joined the United Church of Canada to become Beresford United Church.
The records of Beresford Methodist Church came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records from the Souris-Elgin Pastoral charge in 1999.
Scope and content
The records of Beresford Methodist Church held at the conference archives include a Sacramental register pertaining to Baptisms (1902-1920), Marriages (1903-1918) and Burials (1901-1913).
