Biographical history

At Union in 1925, Benito and Durban became separate appointments. Durban joined with Kenville and Harlington in 1927 and became known as the Kenville-Durban charge. Around 1953, Thunder Hill joined with Benito and in 1955 Kenville, Harlington and Durban were added to this charge. Since 2006, the charge consists of only Benito and Kenville in Assiniboine Presbytery.

Custodial history

The records of the Benito-Kenville Pastoral charge came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of several transfers of records from Toronto in 1982; from Doug Flanders in 1983, 1984 , and 1986; from an unknown source in 1987; and from the Pastoral charge in 1989.

Scope and content

The records of the Benito-Kenville Pastoral charge held at the conference archives include: Sacramental registers pertaining to Baptisms (1946-1968), Marriages (1940-1968), and Burials (1947-1968); Annual Reports (1981-1983, 1985, 1990); Communion Rolls and Registers (1952, 1970); other records (1923-1967); records of the Official Board (1954-1971); records of the Ladies Aid (1941-1948); records of the Young People's Union (1962-1965); records of the Hi-C (1967); financial records (1930-1940); records of the Stewards (1961-1975); records of the W.M.S. Lidstone Auxiliary (1953-1961); records of the Ladies Aid (1912-1961); records of the U.C.W. (1960-1970); and records of the Sunday School (1913-1988).
