Notice biographique
Beatrice Ashton's grandparents, Hannah (Ward) Furness and Algernon Furness were married in England in 1880. After their marriage, they lived at Willow Cottage, St. James' Lane, Muswell Hill, London. Beatrice's father, Robert Ashton, attended St. John the Baptist School in Liverpool. He earned several medals for attendance and a scholarship to continue on from grammar school. He was unable to take up the offer, however, as he had to go to work at fourteen. Robert Ashton came to Canada around 1910. Beatrice was employed as a teacher in Winnipeg for many years.
