Frances Goffman and Charles Bay were both born in 1919 and were married in 1946. They had one child, Josh Bay.

Frances Goffman was born in Mannville, Alberta to Ukrainian immigrants, Max Goffman and Anne (Averbach) Goffman. She had one brother Ervin Goffman, a noted sociologist. The family moved to Dauphin, Manitoba shortly after the children were born. Frances began acting on stage as a teenager and continued to do so until the birth of her son. She returned to acting in the 1970s on stage, TV and film and continued to do so until her death in . She appeared in such films and TV series as Twin Peaks, Happy Gilmore and Seinfeld and won a Gemini award for a guest role on Road to Avonlea.

Charles bay was born to Eli and Gertrude Bay in Dauphin, Manitoba along with 4 brothers 1 sister. He earned an MBA from Harvard in 1938. He worked in the retail fashion industry in Boston, Massachusetts; New York, New York; Jacksonville, Florida; San Diego, California; and Los Angeles, California. He later owned a company that manufactured down comforters. After his retirement he also acted in a small number of film roles. Charles Bay died in 2002.

Josh Bay was born in 1947. He lived 7 months in kibbutz in 1967. He was attending college when he died in 1970.
