Administrative history

Barclay United Church, located northwest of Morden, Manitoba in the Rural Municipality of Pembina, joined The United Church of Canada in 1925. Services were held in the Barclay School, built in 1890. Rev. Taylor officiated over a field that included points at Barclay, Darlingford, Thornhill, Mountain City, Opawaka, Pearce and Windygates. By 1947, only Sunday School was being held in the school, and service was discontinued in 1949. The Barclay's Ladies Aid, however, continued separately, holding their own functions and meetings. In 1961 they dissolved and joined with the Darlingford United Church Women (U.C.W.). The Barclay school has since been torn down and its former location is marked with a cairn.

Custodial history

The records of Barclay United Church came to The United Church of Canada Archives-Conference of Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario as part of a transfer of records from the Pembina Parish Pastoral Charge in 1983.

Scope and content
