Biographical history

Baldur United Church has existed in the Manitoba community of Baldur, in the Rural Municipality of Argyle, since 1925. Its predecessors were Baldur Presbyterian Church and Baldur Methodist Church. The Methodist church continued to be used as the United Church, and the Presbyterian church was demolished in 1931. At Union in 1925, the Baldur Pastoral charge included Glenora and Greenway with Rev. M.E. Nixon presiding. By 1965, church attendance started to decline, including Sunday School attendance. The charge had difficulty sustaining an ordained minister. The Glenora congregation was dissolved in 1968 and Greenway closed its church six years later. In 1975 the Baldur charge amalgamated with Belmont and the new charge became known as the Baldur - Belmont - Hilton Charge, which became part of the Brandon Presbytery with The Rev. Bruce McNeill as the minister. In September 2005, Baldur amalgamated with the Glenboro and Holland - Cypress River Pastoral charges to form the Prairie Vision Pastoral charge, which includes Baldur, Belmont, Cypress River, Glenboro and Holland. Prairie Vision Pastoral Charge is part of the Agassiz Presbytery.
