History

Anne Slonim was born in Tolna, Russia in 1903 and immigrated to Canada in 1912. She was active in a number of Jewish organizations in Winnipeg. These include roles as president of the Muter Farein Council of IL Peretz School and Jewish Community Choir. She was also a founder and president of the Jewish Dramatic Musical Club and worked for Mount Carmel Clinic. For this work she received honours from the Canadian Jewish Congress, Jewish Historical Society, Shaarey Zedek and the City of Winnipeg.

Slonim had three children with her husband Henry: Morley, Sidney and Aubrey. Anne Slonim died in 1999 in Winnipeg.
