Biographical history

The items in this fonds are believed to have belonged to Anna Bauer. At the time that these photographs were made Anna Bauer lived in Weiden-Hersbruck, Bavaria. The subject of one of the photographs, a young woman ca.1872, is identified as Anna through a caption on the reverse. The relationship of the other identified subjects, Mathilde [M]orhart and Margaretha Berger, to Anna Bauer is not known.

Custodial history

The items in this fonds were donated to the Costume Museum of Canada in 1997 by Martin Nehmann, the great-grandson of the original owner.
