Eagle River, Ont., St. Matthew fonds
Eagle River is 65 miles east of Kenora. The first church was built in 1904 by Mr. A.J. Bruce, a Wycliffe College student. From 1911 to 1926 university students were in charge in the summers at Eagle River and nearby Minnitaki. In the early twentieth century, Eagle River was an important coaling station for the CPR and the Dryden Paper Company operated a sawmill there. However, over the years, these services withdrew and the congregation gradually dwindled. The church was deconsecrated on October 9, 1976.
Atikokan (Ont.), Church of the Good Shepherd
There were services in Atikokan before 1954 when the church was built and dedicated by Bishop H.E. Hives. A parish hall was built and added to the church building in 1960 after which time the sanctuary and church basement underwent major renovations.
